Congratulations to Allen Trower

Allen began working for the Kansas State Grain Inspection Department on August 10th 1977 as a Sampler/Weigher in the Topeka office.  That same year Allen started studying to become an inspector and obtained his wheat and rye licenses in May 1978.  He continued working in the Topeka office until 1984 and while there obtained licenses to grade corn, sorghum and soybeans.

In 1984, Allen was transferred to the Atchison office.  He worked there until 1988.  During his time in Atchison he obtained licenses to grade barley, oats and sunflower seeds. He also was appointed as the QAS for the Atchison office and had that role until 1988.

In April of 1988, Allen was offered and accepted the manager position in the Hutchinson service point taking on his new role in June of 1988.  Allen was manager for 22 years from 1988 through 2010, continuing his work through the time of privatization in 1997.

In 2010, Allen was offered and accepted the position of Quality Assurance Coordinator for the Kansas Grain Inspection Service.

Allen and his wife of 47 years, Hope, are planning to stay in Topeka after retirement.  They have two children, Christie and Jason, in Wichita.  Allen will spend time visiting his nine grandchildren and his two great-grandchildren.  It’s rumored he will also play more golf when he retires.
